the snowflakes of 2019 continue a holiday tradition that started when i was very young. i began making ornaments after being introduced to the process by my great aunt charlotte around the age of 10. through the years, i’ve made ornaments from all sorts of things and of all sorts of subjects. from seashells, clothes pins, heart pine, acrylic, googly eyes, paint and cardboard to angels, christmas trees, reindeer, candy canes and of course snowflakes.

in 2019 i chose to improve on an old idea. the cardboard snowflake ornament i designed and produced while at cranbrook became the seed to create (6) new snowflake designs. these new snowflakes would be made from 1/8” birch plywood and cut using a laser cutter. the snowflakes would be spray painted white and assembled with thread AND wire hook. A GROUP OF PTA PARENTS sold them in front of creston SCHOOL, in se pdx, with all profits going to the school pta.

we sold many snowflakes and had a lot of fun in the process. thank you to everyone for their support.

this is dedicated to my wonderful great aunt charlotte and my great aunt sissy who currently has the best jwcj ornament collection.
